Hi Admin,
As mentioned recently on another closed thread I am having trouble opening my "HUGE" project

- i have tried all the usual tricks clear cache, restart Firefox, restart pc...
- I have rolled back firefox to version14.xx
- reinstalled firefox 15.0.1
- changed a number of firefox configurations related to script time outs
- changed a number of firefox memory limits
- checked PC Memory, network connectivity
- Tried to open on another PC at the same location
- Tried to open on a pc at a different location with a faster connection to my ISP
- Tried wired and wireless connections
- Updated drivers for my NICs

All have not allowed me to be able to open my project

Some time ago i started to split this "huge" project and i need to open it to finish splitting it - in the past i was able to open it if i continued to open and close it several times but sadly i have not been able to open this project for several weeks.

Trying to open it just drops the connection after about 20 seconds and have sat there for hours trying to open it

Project = Not Loading :(

its the 5th one in my projects list
Could you please confirm that it will at least build for you locally?

Thanks in advance

It is going to be a little bit better soon.

Next upgrade...

Did you played with the project database design ?
I have separated a loading.

Hi Admin
Thanks for the very quick reply...
Did you played with the project database design ?
by that do you mean did i change any table structures?

I dont think i changed any database structures but not 100% sure as Its been a while since i worked with it...

if it helps I Know i have never built it under v2.0 build only ever been built on v1.5
Thanks again

I mean the graphical design.

The curves positions are saved it a very poor format. 10 decimals after the point for every x,y position, converted in text...

At the end, I realized it was not optimized, and can take a lot of memory for nothing.
So, the more you custom the curves, and the more it is a long loading.

That's it.
Your issue is serios, and I try to optimize where I can.

Perhaps Yes!
In fact i may have dragged a table or two out of their normal positions to see the table relationships clearly, perhaps even some below the first row of tables (lots of tables and Many FKs in them)

Hi Admin,
Just a little further testing from my end on projects that are slow to load

I have gone into several projects that often needed to be opened / closed a few times before they would open properly

I can confirm for my slow to load projects
in the database tab
- if you set the view size to "fit to screen"
- then close the component
- reopen your component
- will load almost instantly
- database view size stays at "fit to screen"

BUT
if you close the browser and login again
- the slow loading issue occurs again
- looking at the database tab (when it finally loads)
- the default database view size is 100%

Perhaps a quick "workaround" (for now) would be to set the default database view size to "fit to screen"
- the user can then scale as needed

BY THE WAY - There is a typo on the view size options
- "Fit to screem" should it not be "Fit to screen"

Hope it helps

In this new upgrade, I've separated the database graphical design.
It is not a big deal, but it helps a little bit.

Once you can open your project, please split it in parts because there is no real solution for that.
When you open your project, it loads completly all the objects trees, because even if you open one table and one layout, it require all the dependencies and contexts. So, it is huge in memory.
When you close a project, the html is cleared, but the project tree object is kept in order to reopen it quickly.

It requires a lot of memory in the browser, and it can be discussed, but I prefers this way for the moment.
So, the trick is to close all projects, AND reload the builder (now empty), then load the single project.

HI Admin
Sorry But Still No Joy

Cant open it :(
still get the 20 seconds even after the upgrade

is there a specific Firefox browser memory limit that needs to be increased (tried a few with no success)

- I only need to reference design of layouts and functionality etc
- obviously it would help if i deleted layouts tables etc that have been recreated (when i finally get to open it)

No it is in my hands to increase the 20 seconds timeout.

Well. Only for you I will try a parameter for that, but I do not garanteed anything.

A new upgrade has been done, so first of all, flush your browser cache. (one time only), and reload the page.

Now, you can try again, the project will load, and AFTER, it will load the tables, and the rest.

If it do not load the tables and shows a timeout, here what you have to do :

1. In your component configuration, change the timeout value (Advanced params)
2. Reload your browser (do not flush cache, or anything)

3. It should pass

By default, it was 10 seconds, not 20.
You can increase to 20 seconds (huge)
And in extreme case, if the server is slow, you can try 30 second. It is the last limit.

Very important, is to stop increasing the project when you reached the 10 seconds limit. It is a lot.
Then, always think some days the server is faster than other days, so keep the 30 seconds timeout ONLY for that possibility.

I will not pay anymore attention to the projects that are too big.
If in future, the builder ask more than before, or if firefox is evolving and asking more, then I will change these timeout. But, I really do not want. 20 seconds is a lot to load a project, so please run under 10 seconds.

Sorry Admin
But I am Still only seeing 20 seconds on this end
- even with the 30 second setting
- followed instructions...flushed cache once, closed browser...

and you guessed it not loaded - timed out
so i guess my project remains in cyber space

thanks for trying & sorry to put you to so much trouble

I was wrong, the default was 20 seconds. (I was looking in localhost)

So I will change that (20s, 30s, 40 s)

But it is not solving the problem for your project.
I tried with 600s, and... nothing to do. I do not have sufficient debug informations to understand.
I mean, no answer at all. for sure an infinite loop somewhere.

I guess it is because of the successive evolutions of the application.
I am really sorry, I cannot sort you out this time.

The javascript builder is not perfect, it has many graphical issues, and unoptimized code. When I started javascript and MooTools, this application was the first project I created. I am prett proud, for a first application.
It has been rewritted 3 times, and still has some issues creating database incoherencies. (100% Ajax asynchronous).
For example, if you are opening your project in 2 different windows, it can trouble the system, really.

To solve this, we should be able at least to open it to understand, but we cannot.
I've got an admin panel, to see raw datas, but it is huge, and not user friendly at all for the moment.

I do not have answer for you.
You can put me Karma -1 ;-)

Hi Admin
Firstly it should be karma + PLUS 10 for your effort in trying to resolve the issue
(perhaps karma needs a "round of applause" = +10 :P )

Yes you should be proud, you have made and excellent improvement to Joomla component development process

Just look around i don't see any component builders that even come close to Cook let alone have an admin that constantly works to evolve

Ok if you can't open it and i can't open it there is nothing we can do

i will just have to install my last download and get a second screen on my pc - with Cook i should be up and running again on a fresh V2.0 build in a matter of days

Thank you for trying karma +1 (it wont let me give you more) :)

OK Today i tried something new
Opened the project and got the time-out error on open (40secs)
Tables did not load

Built Project in Sandbox
All sandbox build processes completed without error
ADMIN / SITE options presented
(Yes As expected takes some time but it does build)

from administrator side
404 - an error has occurred
return to control panel - component not loaded

from frontend - your not loged in...
after login project is not listed

Your solution to similar issue that i had with another project was here
AND YES it would have similar multiple instances of the author wizard field as mentioned in your post below
www.j-cook.pro/forum/18-closed-tickets/3...n-and-front-end#3783

Tried to download
- project calculated 12,800 points
- project built OK
- (as expected it took some time but it did build! - we worked on this one along time ago)
- Download Button Displayed
- Pressed download
- got at time out a few seconds later

I DID manage to download and install my "NOT LOADING" project
- i did notice that the file name was not the the one i was expecting
- the tar.gz file name in fact was the name of the last project that i downloaded before this one
- had a quick look inside the archive and to my surprise it contained my NOT LOADING project
- installed the package with the wrong archive name and all seems fine so far in the installed component
- before i jump for joy i just need some time to test further

Thanks in advance

AND just thought i would add
- i timed the load process again...
I still only see 20 seconds on my end with a setting of [40 seconds max] before the timeout error

So does that mean that i have a firefox maximum script run time setting wrong on my end?
-there is a few that have a 20 second default

Thanks again
