Good morning to all of you :)

I added a Joomla user field to either a frontend and a backend form but they don't seem to work. Regardless to what user I select (admin, Laura) the user drop down stays empty. I tested it in sandbox and installed on site in both frontend and backend - not working.

Also, is it normal that in backend I only see admin and Laura and in frontend I see all users?

I am using V2. Dataset Flushed - no help.

Anyone knows how to fix this?

Kind regards,
Torben

Hi @torbonaut,

When you add the field to your layout, I think that you probably dragged the user table element, not one of the fields.

To rectify, when on your target layout:
  1. remove the current user field
  2. From your fields list (on left), expand the user table by clicking the + sign
  3. Drag the field of your choice to the layout
  4. Rebuild/visit sandbox again
Hope it helps,

Gez

working now ... takes a bit to understand how everything works - would be a pain without users like you. many thanks.

No Problem!

The key to working with any Foreign Key field is that you have the stored data (id) and the label or mask (usually a title, name or in the case of users, a username, email address or something else unique) that you use to display it in a human readable fashion.

This is the case for any custom foreign fields you use in your component to relate data across tables or indeed the user table that COOK has kindly allowed us to hook in to.

Glad it helped and Happy Cooking!
