A demonstration in video is better than all the explanations of the world because we understand much better by seeing the own eyes.

The only problem is that they take time and cook evolves very fast.

I'm more than prepared to make some in depth video tutorials but I think for my time to be used most effectively, we would need a suggestion & voting system so users could propose and vote for the most desirable tutorials which would give me an idea on the priority with which they should be made.

BTW, I use camtasia on both Mac & PC which is excellent for HD capture, post-production and rendering. It is also excellent at auto pan, tilt and zoom which is invaluable for producing detailed screen casts.

Problems of videos is exacty that, it evolves too fast, and the builder interface may be resegined as well in future.
The most important stuff to come are some documentations, API, and classes uses. Tutorials to code common post download features...

In the forum there are already some sniplets and I am currently indexing them in order to create a nice manual, so, you can post in the forum, nothing is lost because I keep trace of the most important.

If we can have some sort of suggestion/proposal box for users + some sort of ratings then I'm more than prepared to start posting them. Also, I can consult with you @admin as to whether or not to do certain videos based on changes that might be planned in the near future if you like???

I think a tutorial that has already been available each element in detail in the builder would be a great step forward.

For example, everyone is not out of engineering school, and foreigne Key is not necessarily an easy thing to understand.

Explain what each "element" of the Builder's important.

I also think that to create a demonstration database application would be a nice touch.

Application of basic Joomla! Typically includes categories, images and text.

Show by example a basic application will be very appreciated.

For the moment we must test everything by ourselves, or for loss of time for self-training, this time will be much more valuable if it is devoted to creation.

I think I'm not the only rowing for it will not be trying to master Cook.

I start out, but it is only through hard work and successive attempt, I sincerely believe that the lack of tutorial for Cook just put the project at risk because it is complex to master for the uninitiated, but especially for those who do not have the courage to try to persevere.

For me by, I try every day, but it is not easy to make something stable and efficient without making mistakes.

I am in the process of creating a simple Cook application. Actually it is an application for Website translations and/ or corrections. It consists of 3 tables which are related to each other.

So, if you would be interested, I could write a "Cook for Dummies" documentation in which I will explain the Application Builder interface, what relationships are, and a step by step tutorial on how to create the sample application.

The aim of the documentation would be that you fully understand the Cook interface, relationships, and how to create a simple application.

For this, you would have to read the documentation and tell me what you don't understand or don't like. This, you would have to do while I write the documentation. Basically you would be the Beta Tester for the documentation.

What do you say?

Brill and very kind idea although since I read your post, I can't help feeling that a WIKI page might be the more robust way to go with this...??? The advantage of this in my opinion is that it can constantly be updated and expanded - maybe by a few or all users - @admin what are our thoughts on this!

Not really sure about a WIKI for joomla - have tried media wiki previously which was quite good.

Working on first of a few tut videos now...

Can we embed youtube videos here? maybe a plugin for moderators and above at least?

If not, I guess in the meantime a link will suffice here but maybe in a new forum category for video tuts/documentation?

Media Wiki seems obviously the best for that.

I hope not to offend the users if we borrow another technology to make your community better. All inputs are welcome.

And I add that I would like to finish 2.0 before. Not anymore beta because some source will still change a little bit and I concentrate on coding for the moment.

Keep you ideas warm, you can publish on your websites as well and create traffic there because it is also your work. Then when the time is coming, Cook will migrate on 3.0 with a new website. This is my plan to make it all in order. Better slowly, even if some users are disapointed. For the moment, the web and the tools are creating too much work for me alone, so I want to improve my tool to be more available for the community website with tools and docs.

hope everybody can understand. Then, at a moment, I will try to reorganize all inputs in a coherent wiki documentation always open for all members to contribute.

I've used projectfork and I must say, it's very powerful and feature rich. The downside is that it's not as straight forward to set up and implement as a lot of extensions. I may be wrong but I believe that it's commercial too.

I've also used JFusion for integrating a php instance into joomla although in the end, I decided to run with something called Medhi's PHPBB Joomla Bridge as it was a lot more transparent.

I'll check out your extensions soon - I did have a quick look at your site the other day but haven't had chance to look at them in depth yet. nice site by the way!

Yes its true that Projectfork & JFusion are complicated to use.

My videos do that integrating extensions readers exportable streaming sites using it for the moment no external drive.

I use either the code "embed" videos of its sites either Iframe, the only real advantage is that I added a lot of website videos.

I have 2 versions, one for Joomla 1.6, 1.7 and 2.5 and another that I adapted to Cook with Joomla 3.0 (but still works with Joomla 2.5 but the display of the component is as very aesthetical)
