Hi There,

I'm in the middle of creating my first real component which is a Project management application to manage, Projects, Services, Events, Users and Tasks etc, suited to organisations who deliver workshops at multiple venues, for multiple clients & users.

Although at present I'm building this for myself and don't currently intend to distribute the component, I would like to in the future. This got me thinking how awesome it would be to package some sample data in the component, thus, making it even easier for managers/admins of the component to gain a 'real-world' insight into the component's use.

I've no idea how much work this would be to implement for you but I can see as a user of the service, the advantage that this would offer to developers using your service.

Anyway, it's just an idea!

This feature is coming with V2.0

It already works here in local.
The only remaining problem is about users fkeys (or any links with tables out out the component). No solution.

What about packaging a 'dummy' users table hosted on the cook/builder platform that autmatically swaps to #__users in the real component, i.e. when a component is installed on the developer's server???

Could this be achieved with an SQL view of the users table maybe? Just a couple of thoughts...

It has no sense at all, because the ID will not be corerent with your production user table.

The road is long, I cannot realize this because there is already a lot to do before.

Of course, that was a very silly suggestion!

What if there were an option to bundle the 'dummy' table into the install then? Maybe allow cook developers like myself to add a few users for the purpose of demonstration only, couldn't that work?
