It would be awesome if cook was loaded with a new table type that allowed cook extensions to hook into com_categories. I know that this isn't as easy as it sounds however, if there was a way cook could auto insert a parent node , extension (name) & asset id into com_categories, 'filtering' the view for viewing the categories would be relatively straight forward in the builder.
