Hi fellow members,

It is still not possible for me to improve the product at the moment for beeing part of other works but I will come back with improvements in prepration.
When you spend so much effort in something, you don't release it it so easily.
Cook has excellent base framework and is far to be fully exploited and it WILL be supporting Joomla 4.

My idea for 4.0 is to reduce the features for making it more simple and versatile.
The version 4.0 will integrate more the Joomla native features, and less 'cook' customs.
Meaning, maybe loosing the file uploader and all stuff I designed and integrated in Classes and Helpers.
Version 4.0 involves to rewrite most of generated code, so I can limit features only on the bounds of Joomla.
What do you think ?

For instance, the ORM system, the forking system, etc... some features are necessary and so cool,
Others can be avoided (JDom, Files, )

What are your suggestions ?
Coding is now a piece of cake

Great to hear you still have plans :)

Less is often more, and in general is should be a good idea to not invent the wheel again if features are already in Joomla and integrate with that.
I am not aware of all the features you could remove to be honest.

While I agree with Romkabouter, I think that jdom should remain as an option to facilitate continuity for many of us. To remove it completely may spell trouble for some legacy projects.

great news to hear that you continue developement,
I have one new feature that is missing in the out of the box data collection features.

Whey you want to add recored that has some foreign keys connected,
you have to add every missing foreign key record separatelly and in the end add main record.

It would be great to have option "Add new" in foreign key ajax search box
that opens modal with form. Aftery you hit "save and close" the record can be selected in ajax serach box.
This process can work recursivelly with other foreign keys inside modals.

Hard to find features that can be abandoned...

I use the file upload and fork in most of my projects. I don't use JDOM or ORM.
Cheers

Would love to see an API interface for easy integration with mobile Apps. I believe it would move j-cook ahead of the pack. . .

What is your ETA for version 4? Joomla 4 stable is scheduled to the end of 2019.
