Hey Chief,

I guess this question ha been posted several hundreds times, but I ask again...
I saw one of your post saying:
For the moment no news.

I would like to precise that the N:M management will come after FoF.
Because there isn't any standard defined for this, I will not try to invent the weel, and then need to change the way of doing. There are many ways.

So, when FoF will be included, I will intent to introduce this possibility using the maximum power of FoF.

Ok, so first question would be: what is FoF?
And second one : is there any idea of a date for a release, please? It is quietly important for me to know, as I'm waiting for this feature to start a quietly big project.

Thanks for your answer.

Best.

FoF means "Framework on Framework".

It is not replacing Joomla Framework.
Simply it defines a standard naming conventions. Then FoF library will handle everything properly without writing anything.
FoF is included in native since Joomla 3.2.

In some words, your component will be reduced to ashes. Not anymore this long list of repetitive files. Amazing, no ?
For your big project, yes... wait a little bit that FoF and N:M coming. You can start designing it in the builder.

With FoF, you need to know very well what is going on, because you cannot see anymore the invisible process. More difficult to debug for instance.
So Cook will create the custom functions only (Those that FoF does not handle)
Also, the difficult thing is because cook will create different levels of custom when you want to write inside painless.

Also coming the notion of triggers winthin the component. Not only for plugins.

I cannot say any date for the moment. I am profoundly sorry for that. Please understand I work alone and the amount of work is deadly variable. Those features are high priority, but the support and blocking issues are even more.
I am improving Cook when I can. I am not a machine only developing, even if it is my favorite time. I do all by myself and has to manage my company and support alone.

Actually there is no other Joomla generator that goes so far as Cook, and wich is still in such evolution.

About N:M, I will really do my best as soon as possible.
Hold on your breath and keep your patience.
Cook has already grown so much in 2.5 years !!

Hey Chief,

Thanks a lot for your answer and explanations.
I do know what time it can take, so don't worry, I really understand.

As I said, I will start my (big) project soon, and this would be great for me to start the project with Cook. I think it will be a big time saver for me. This will be really true when I see the amount of work this will be. My question was there to only have an idea of date (maybe in 3 months, 6 months or a year...?). I will start the conception of my component, and it will take several weeks for me to do that, because just like you, I just can work on it only when I can.

EDIT: most of the relations between my tables will be many to many ones... So that's why I will need Cook to handle this feature... ;)

All the features you said seems to be really great. I can't wait to see that in Cook! :)
If you do all that, I'm pretty sure Cook will be the most advanced Component generator on the market. So keep the good work!

Best regards.
