Hi Jocelyn (and everyone!),

The team at my company is expanding and I now have another Joomla!/php/mysql developer working on our j-cook component. This raises the question of how many users can be logged into the one j-cook account at one time?

We have one 'account' which I use, can the other developer log in at same time with that username/password? Or do we need to purchase another account, in which case - how is the second account user supposed to access the same project(s) that I am working on?

Oh dear, I think I have opened a can of worms.

Looking forward to your reply.

Kind Regards,

Edward

hello edwardcox,

I'm not part of j-cook team but as far as I'm concerned I think that there is a security issue if you share your j-cook account. Doing this, the other person can modify or even delete all of your work with few clicks.

So, I don't think that's a good Idea.

On the other hand, I understand that you are doing a collaborative work with the other guy. This feature does not seem do be included right now in the builder. Maybe you can ask for a feature request :)

And last point, as this is a service, I think that's more fair for j-cook team that you purchase points for the second account. Since now, Jocelyn made a great work and the best way to thank him is to buy few points.

Regards.

Oh, I forget to say : buying points will also give help to Joomla project (just an example) by giving cashback to the project.

Hi Christophe,

I agree with you entirely and I fully support the work that Jocelyn and J-Cook are doing for us.

It's just that if I am doing collaborative work and have a colleague working on the same project I can get 2 accounts, however that does not provide for access to the same Project.

I am just hoping that this might be seen as a request and that others might support the idea of numbers support the idea.

Thanks Christophe,

Kind Regards,

Edward.

If you both access to the same project, it is high risk of collisions.

Cook doesn't handle 'checkout' flag and realtime synchronization wich are the basis for such multiuser use.

Very complicated to implement and too much specific.
I am affraid that it should will never be possible.

Sorry, but you have to deal with the product as it is in present moment.
I understand that sharing an account means sharing ALL projects...

If you want to transfer a project to another account, this is exceptionaly manually possible. Ask me in private.

One day it will maybe be possible to clone a project, but as a copy only.

PS : Nice avatar edwardcox, I like the cisors because I now include this image in some Cook visuals. Our french printed flyer for Joomla Day shows the sicors and dashed shapes in the main logo.
Good catch !
Coding is now a piece of cake
