When I test my component in the sandbox the Joomla User fields do not populate. I need to create "accounts" and tie them to a Joomla user account, so that field is required. I am not able to test the component because I can not assign a user to the account. The drop down says "Select Account Holder" and I get a "This field is Required" error because I can not change the drop down to any user.

What should I do to get a user to show up in the Joomla User select box when testing in the sandbox?

When you drag the field to the layout, ensure you drag one of the user fields, not the element itself. To clarify, in your fields list, your user field should have a + sign. Click it and drag the username field to your layout.

Hope it helps, Gez

I don't see a + sign associated with the Joomla user Data Type. I tried to drag that data type to the Wizards column to see if it would give me the + like it did with the Author and other Wizards, but that did not work. To be clear here is what I am doing:
  1. Created the Table
  2. Added Ordering, Published, Checked out, and Author Wizards
  3. Used the + signs in the Wizards to add the fields to the table
  4. Switched to Data Types
  5. Dragged Joomla user to the Data fields, naming it Account Holder/account_holder
  6. Edited the properties of the Joomla User (Account Holder) field to make it a required field

Should I be using the Foreign Key data type and linking it back to the user table for this instead?

Hi there,

Sorry, to clarify, follow my previous post when you are adding the field to your layout, not to the table.

I presumed that you already had the field in a table.

Hope it helps,

Gez
