Just a note to say that i have updated my original post on custom taskbar buttons - some changes and cleaned it up so its a little easier to follow... but its still a work in progress

No Worries, i had to do it anyway for one of my current projects before i could move any further...
AND i got it working without needing to define the tool bar with the $bar->appendbutton(....) method

And another reference i found today that might help those wanting to add custom toolbar buttons (audibleid? :whistle:
