I am installing my component and getting:

500 Error Table ' ' doesn't exist

I checked the database and the tables are not there. Any ideas?

I think I have found.

It depends if it is the same problem I think.
Is the version of you project undefined ?

Because, after the last upgrade, I have added a feature to put SQL for incremental patchs in the sql / update directory.
There was a bug when the project has empty version. It should be fixed now.

If your problem is not related to that, please precise the project and I will check.

When I install an updated version of the component, it does not add new tables or fields to the database. I have a substantial amount of data that I need to preserver, so I manually added the new fields and tables to resolve the problem.

You can recreate the table structure after an update : se here : www.j-cook.pro/index.php/docs/versions/197-2-6-5 In your case, if you want to keep the datas, then it is better to adjust the stucture manually, as you did. I am glad you got it sorted. Coding is now a piece of cake
