[LOW] Created by only saved on existing item 10 Sep 2015 14:34 #13453

Hi,

For this issue I created a project "CreatedByTest"
It has one table "TestTable" with a TableItem

The table has one string field, named "Some string", a CreatedBy and a ModifiedBy field.
The last two have been added through the wizard "Author"

The issue (I do not know wether it is a bug, I find the functionality confusing):

When adding a TableItem and selecting a value in "Created By" on the form (i.e. mr.registred), that data is now saved upon saving the item.
Instead, the value of the current user is saved in that field (i.e. Mr SuperUser).
When going back to the item and changing the value, pressing save/save&close correctly changes the createdby field.

Is this a bug or is it supposed to work that way?

Regards

I've just checked it.

You are true.
This is because the behavior is called by Joomla AFTER the cook custom.
I would not like to change this behavior because the time is now to reduce the custom at maximum and work with Joomla, even if they are limitations.
Normally this is not affecting you, because users create in front end. And the admin can eventually edit it afterwards.

The only thing I can do is to hide the creation field when id=0 (creation) Same as order, you need to save item prior to change that value.
Coding is now a piece of cake

Hi admin,

I understand why it happens, I have created another solution for this.

Better to not change this
