Hello,
I'm on 2.5 and on the sandbox
1 - On the backoffice collection layout the ordering arrows are not working
2 - Also when I edit an item the ordering field value is lost and set to 0 has default value.

I did not change any parameter in the field Table.
the validator REGEX is ^[\-\+]?\d+$ (numeric field)
ordering field: the wizard default field

Thanks a lot for your help.
test done on my ttd project on the sections table

Are you absolutely sure that a 0 hasn't been set in the default value of the field?

If no default has been set, try;
  1. removing the field from the table
  2. rebuild the project,
  3. re-add the field to the table & views
  4. rebuild the files
  5. re-test
Hope it helps!

try flushing browser cache as a last resort then close project, logout, login, reopen after all previous steps...

Hello,
I tried it and unfortenately no successfull results :-(
-flushing cache
-closing project
-logout
-login
-removing the field from the table
-rebuild the project,
-re-add the field to the table & views
-rebuild the files
-re-test

I still have those 2 problems :
- On the backoffice collection layout the ordering arrows are not working
- when I edit an item the ordering field value is lost and set to 0 (First) has default value.

Are you getting any errors in your browser console/debugger?

As a last attempt, I'd create a new project with exactly the same config, add a table with ordering field to see if it works.

Best of luck,

I will check that as soon as possible.

Remove your regex on this field, it can create problems I think, and it is not usefull, because the value is already parsed anyway.

Hello I have created a brand new project.
- all options by default (nothing touched)
- 1 table with 3 fields title alias ordering nothing touched just pressed return key to validate.
- a backend collections with the 3 fields
- a item view with the 3 fields

in sand box.
I create 3 items called X1,X2,X3
items created in that order has their order so
- X1, order 1
- X2, order 2
- X2, order 3

1 - I click on arrow up or arrow down of X2. Nothing Changes
2 - I edit my item X2 to get to the item edit view and order field is set to first (and not 2). i just save without touching and X2 is order 0 so finally i have :
- X1, order 1
- X2, order 0
- X2, order 3

I'm on Snow Leopard 10.6.8 - Firefox 15.0.0.1

Debugger Says Nothing : I clicked on the Paused Button on Firefox when that stops at each Errors.
I have just a warning that seems to to nothing with my problem :

L'exposition d'objets JS chrome au contenu sans __exposedProps__ n'est pas sûre et est obsolète. Consultez developer.mozilla.org/en/XPConnect_wrappers pour plus d'informations.

Hi There,

OK, I just placed an ordering field on one of my tables, with no group by set, not required and all of the default options. Just to be clear about my setup in case there are any slight differences;
  1. FF Version: 15.0.1 (Although it has just found an update of some sort)
  2. OS: MacOSX 10.6.8 (Snow Leopard)
  3. Joomla Version: 2.5
  4. Environment: Sandbox
  5. Cook Version: 2.0
  6. JS: JQuery
  7. Form Style: Condensed
  8. Features: Maximum
  9. ToDo: No
  10. DB Automation: Model
  11. Timeout: 20 secs
I can confirm that in relation to points in your earlier post;

mfr75 wrote: ... when I edit an item the ordering field value is lost and set to 0 (First) has default value ...

This field appears as a drop-down in my item view with the options;
  • Order First
  • --1 ()
  • --2 ()
  • --3 ()
  • Order Last
Is this the same for you or are you seeing a regular text field?

@admin - I can also confirm that this option is always pre-populated with the option Order First and is therefore always set to 0 upon save unless changed.

1 question regarding the other options, i.e. --1 (), --2() & --3 (); Shouldn't or could there be an option to utilise the row's title or another field inside of the brackets?

mfr75 wrote: ... On the backoffice collection layout the ordering arrows are not working ...

At first glance, I though, hold on, where are my arrows???

Then I realised, it's quite neat in that, you're ordering field on a grid should automatically be set to sortable. To reveal the arrows and make the field editable, i.e. to type a number into the ordering field or use arrows, you must select click the column title to sort by order first.

If it is not sortable, first, in the grid view, click properties on your ordering field then check sortable.

Is this the behaviour you're experiencing? Does that fix it?

Hope it helps! best of luck,

Gez

PS Please let me know the results and if possible, add all of your config/environment details.
