File upload - loses template 26 Oct 2012 23:40 #4754

Looking for some help -
I've had success in the past with the upload field - but for some reason everytime I produce a simple upload field and run the component (sandbox and local, vs1.5 and 2) it returns me to the collection page in the admin and in the front end to show just an empty template - the file is in place but that's all it shows... I've attached a series of screen shots to show how it looks before and after. The rest of the admin looks fine and is in working template... I've tried this in a standard, fresh Joomla install with no other installs also, can't seem to troubleshot my way out of this. (update: it seems to only be having problems with image file uploads - pdfs, doc, rtf, all work fine)

Hi @hard1313 and welcome to the cook forum!

I cannot reproduce the symptoms that you're experiencing in sandbox with v2.0 cook. I just tried and all is fine. In fact, I can honestly say that I've never returned to a page where the template failed to load.

Can you try to refresh your files, rebuild project and re-run in sandbox. Maybe this was just a weird error, one off error that occurred during build because of server load at the time or something.

Hopefully this will correct your problem!

Best of luck,

Gez

That means you are experiencing a fatal.

In the sandbox you cannot see the error for security.

Download it and tell us what is the concerned file. I will fix that for you because it mustn't occurs.
Coding is now a piece of cake

Hi- I've attached the downloaded component. This seems to only be an issue with image files - .docs, pdfs, etc... all upload just fine.

Also, I did go ahead and delete all projects, flushed all data, and then started again with a very simple, file upload component, i text field, 1 file upload to see if that fixed anything, I had the same error in sandbox and locally.

I jumped and started to work on a demo component... but 2 days later this demo component became the real component. I just showed today the end result to my customer and he turned to me and said... "this is more than I expected"... All of this is because Cook did cut about 70% of my work and provided me more ways to improve the usability of the component. The end result was 17 tables all related between than to generate a full dashboard for the travel agents. Thanks for Cook developers for such great tool. This component would not be possible to be done at short time with all the features in it
