CREATION DATE / MODIFICATION DATE with TIME 31 Jan 2013 07:53 #6580

I think it's very useful create the creation date and modification date field, with the hours, minutes, seconds as well.
Many times it's needed to have those values in components.

This change just need few modifications in the output fo the jcook builder, because the data could be easily stored into the DB and retrieved from, in the correct format, just changing the type of database field, and few lines of code in the output layout.

Why not use a datetime field in the creation date wizard?

Because then I have to add more code to make to check if the item is new or old, and automatically store the time().

Have you been using the wizards? If you don't auto create the created and modified date fields, add the relevant datetime fields and name them as per auto generated field names.

Then, connect these 2 datetime fields to the wizard and re add the fields to your layouts.

Thanks I found "the way".
I used the wizard but autogenerating the field. Now I manually created the datetime table field and then I linked to the wizard.

Time to create page: 0.061 seconds

Although I found this tool some time ago I just started learning experimenting and building this first component on Monday and now on Thursday afternoon it's already online. Although I already had a working version done with another tool this is much easier to build and at the end you have the freedom to own your own component. Once you know how to use Cook you will boost your productivity as the learning curve is really moderate compared to many other tools.
