Hi,

I have been using Cook for only a day now and it is the next best thing to Jagermeister. i is very easy to use and I see some of the greatest Joomla Components ever! coming from Cook users.

My question is simple, I can't get the Search Box to work, no matter what I try it end up not showing when I run my Component inside the Sandbox.
I got the Dropdown list working in a few minutes but not the Search Box.
What is the right procedure to follow to get it to work?

After adding the search filter did you drop the fields that you want to search into on to the filter?

I don't see any problem.

Opening your test project, I see that you are searching a field BEHIND a FKey. (Recursive)

So, if you want to make some test, you should fill at least one linked item.

TODO :
In your form, instance your 'foreign_key' field.
In sandbox, add some elements, and create some links trough this foreign_field combo.

Then, in the search, you will be able to find items that are one level depth. (as you created)

IMPORTANT NOTE :
Creating recursive tree that maneer is not recommendated. I understand it is a test project, but anyway...
I precise that the 'Nested' sytem is coming in 2012 and will be the perfect and optimized way to do it.

Best regards. and welcome to the community.

Hi,

I am sorry, I have already done all of that that, the project you have seen was in a derelict state i.e. abandoned so the answer you gave had no bearing on the problem I had when I first started this Topic. In addition, the project I created does not run at all anymore, it could be because of code changes made to the Cook software?

I am also not sure if it could be a browser problem, I am running the latest Firefox edition.

I think what I am going to do is create a new account and try again.

If I run into any problems I will let you know.

I jumped and started to work on a demo component... but 2 days later this demo component became the real component. I just showed today the end result to my customer and he turned to me and said... "this is more than I expected"... All of this is because Cook did cut about 70% of my work and provided me more ways to improve the usability of the component. The end result was 17 tables all related between than to generate a full dashboard for the travel agents. Thanks for Cook developers for such great tool. This component would not be possible to be done at short time with all the features in it
