[SOLVED] created_by deleted when record is edited 16 Nov 2012 00:28 #5403

Greetings,

Brand new user here. I'm exploring features. I have used the author wizard to add created_by and modified_by fields to the table. In the sandbox, when I go back and edit a record, the modified by field gets filled in, but the created_by field has been deleted.

Am I missing something, or is this the intended behavior?

For the application I have in mind, I would want to keep the record of the creator as well as the last modifier.

Thanks.

Hi and welcome to COOK @dangs83613@mypacks.net,

I've never experienced this but here are a couple of things to check...

When you added the field to the layout, did you drag the users table element instead of one of the fields, for example, username?

If so, remove the field from the layout and and re-add it by navigating to the fields list, down to users (table) and click the '+' sign to access the username, email address or name according to how you want the creator to be displayed.

If this is not the issue, please could you post your CONFIG details as per this topic: www.j-cook.pro/forum/25-faq/4183-howto-p...ing-help-effectively

many thanks,

Gez

That must have been it. I re-created the layout paying attention to the fields and now all is well. Thanks!

This is what you call a component builder. I was able to master using this in a very short time and the resulting component works like a charm. Not just a basic component builder but a fully working component builder with forms fields tables all ready to go. You can make the list and item views to display in the front and back end. Also there is a great forum just starting to evolve and I'm sure this will grow very rapidly when you all realise how good this tool is.
