Yeah, no mocking

I have a client, who is using Joomla 1.5.. their site is a mess of hacks, the work of multitudes of previous coders and blah blah blah. Long story short, until a full analysis is done, this site cannot be simply upgraded. HOWEVER one piece of work I need to do is a very simple 1 table extension which is needed fairly urgently.

Now, I am quite confident about doing it manually, but I have grown, as the years pass, very lazy thanks to JCook and was wondering if I can download the Joomla 1.6 generated component, making sure to remove ALL none Joomla 1.5 things such as config, new orders, save and new etc; and get it working on Joomla 1,5.

There are some older generators out there, but these require Windows.. and I dont use windows anymore (well I CAN, its just a level of pain I dont need)

Or.. do you have the OLD component creator still swtiched on, somewhere on an archive server with the 1.5 generator of the old kind still functioning.

If the admin team still has access to the old code and can generate this component, I would be willing to donate generously for their time in clicking that generate button =)

I do not have anymore this generator for 1.5. Even for me...

Did you asked on joomla.org how to make usable a 1.6 component on 1.5 ?

For differences, I would say :
- Install manifest file
- MCV totally different.
- ACLs totally differents
- UI layer
- JDom will have lot of problems

My advice is to copy an existing component, or Joomla native one (content / contacts / or else)
and then to rewrite inside.

You can see how long it is without cook ;-)
I am a bit scared because I have also kept 3 clients with 1.5 and this is frightening ....
Coding is now a piece of cake

Freakin' Awesome!!! J-Cook is simply awesome - whether you're a highly experienced developer or complete novice whether you're building a small inventory component or a complete community solution! The beauty comes from a fast slick and reliable platform that readily provides developers with everything they'll need to build the backbone of a solid and secure component with wizards for authoring access publishing aliasing created/modified by dates... you name it COOK provides it! J-Cook really surpasses all of the 'competition' as far as MVC tools are concerned! Try love it and get cooking!
