First of all, I want to thank you very much for COOK, this is really a great job. I use to create for free for friend who need Joomla website for 3 years.
I'm really not a programmer indeed. I do not know PHP at all.

Well back to my issues.
first issue : I'm using COOK since the 12th of february the last. Thus I have no experience.
In my tables I used a data type name "Joomla user". I was expecting to get a list of Joomla users when filling the form, but nothing. Moreover in the frontend the answer is 0, I got also a 2 answer. I do not see the name I enter within the backend !
Is it normal ?

Second issue : Instead to have a basic table in the frontend I need to have a very different presentation. You can see the expeted picture here dowloading a pdf file of two pages : TELECHARGER PDF
Can I do that with COOK ?

The main topic I retain for this topic is the problem of Joomla! users.

If you want to see the names of the users in a list, pick the 'username' field behind your 'Joomla user' key.
Drop it in your form. (remove previous one before)

That's all.

I'm not sure to get the point.

Do you mean i have to go to my real joomla table joomla users ?
I yes how can I drop this table to COOK ?

Why I could not say to COOK : go and see the joomla user and present this same as "enumeration" in data types ?

Anyway, I find a solution using "enumeration" but for me it is a great and job because I will have to enter 453 people...

So will you please give me the solution how to get directly the joomla users ?

Cook has been done to avoid loosing your time, so don't use any enumeration here.


I guess, in your table there is a 'joomla user' type file. For example 'my_user' as name.
When you compose a form, in the layout panel, you drag 'n' drop data fields that are in a list (left).
Well.
This list of fields is a TREE.
Every time you define a joined table (or user table), you can expand the node.

What you have to do is to open the 'my_user' node, and choose wich information to show as label in the combo (name, username, etc...)

If you drop it in a form, it automatically create a combo list.

I'm really a newby within programming. Even if I do understand what you say, I'm still in the dark.
I see pretty well that in the database COOK shows a database and that the node is link to the ID. But how to move it to username ??

Second, from where to where are you supposed to do the drop in the form ? Within COOK itself or in my own joomla database ?
Do you have any video lesson for that. I miss very hard this basic. I'm very sorry.

I looked in your projects.

Do it as the same way you dropped your fields in your form. The only difference is instead of taking the field you take its child.

I didn't see the "+" on the left to get child. Stupid isn't it ?
