All records in each table of my component is set to public access and published. However, when I click on a page belonging to the component from my front end, I am getting the message: "You are not authorised to view this resource."

Once I log in I am able to access the pages.

Any ideas how to enable public access to the component?

thanks,
Geoff

Hello Geoff. And welcome!

Here's a link to one of several threads that will immediately solve your issue :)

Also search the forum for the keyword Authoring.

Or maybe it's simply a question of ACL rights, not even an authoring problem.
Check for the button "configuration" in your component in backend.

I can't find a "configuration: button in the backend. Is this something I need to author within Cook? I see there is a Configuration "task", but I'm not sure how to implement it.

Also, how do I determine what backend page should have the Configuration button?

thanks,
Geoff

Both good questions Geoff. I believe that VeCrea was referring to the 'Options' icon in the top right hand corner that when clicked displays the Configuration options when you select your Component from the Admin back end. This should be visible if you have included the Author Wizard in your Table.

See:

So, on the back end any 'Views' (or pages ;-) that reference a Table with the Author wizard field should have the 'Options' icon. It's purpose is to then show Configuration options and allow you to define via 'Permissions' - and this is the key. Who can do What and Where.. (Access Control Lists).

See:

In my example above, Registered users to my site (Component) can Create, View, and Edit records.

I hope that makes sense? If not, just ask and we'll help you out.

No. Not automatic.

It is available if you put the 'Config' task in the toolbar.
(Setted by default)
Coding is now a piece of cake
