Foreign Key link to specific field in other table 07 Apr 2013 00:33 #7029

Hi, I have searched the forums but not found exactly what I am needing. I am new to the system so apologize for my newbee question.

I have created two tables. In one it has the field { employee involved }. I have dragged the other table into the foreign field section as described in the instructions.

The other table has - the auto id, employee name, date started , position and employee type.

When I go and have a look the other table when on a form seems to auto connect to the ID field which I cannot see when building. I want it to select from the employee name field but there seems to be no way in the component creator to be able to do this. I am not a coder so have no idea what to do to make this happen.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. And again, sorry if this is covered somewhere else.

Regards

Jonathan

Awards for the best Joomla app. This product is gonna win an award for this amazing job. Cook Self Service is the the best application from all over the Joomla universe ! It brings Joomla to a professional level really advanced for developers. It is a real fun to develop with it. The ACL part and security checks implementation are just... so much hours saved. I can now concentrate myself more on the design part and the creative works. Thank you so much. Guys I offer you all my congratulation ! Keep up the works because Joomla is needing it to increase the quality of extensions availables on the JED. I also learned a lot because I can see how to code at the proper place and I found all my answers reading the forum.
