Hello,

This is the first time that I'm going to download and install a Cook component. In case that I need to do some additional changes inside Cook (it' very probable that it happens) ,

1. do I have first to uninstall the current component in my joomla site in order to reinstall the last version? or just download the new one from cook and install it again?

2. In case that I had added data to the D/B, what will happen with it?

Thanks!

Hello,

Having done exactly that 50 million trillion times, as most of us have :-)

IF you have not made changes to your Tables and Fields in any way then simply installing your shiny new Component in Joomla! will perform an update, and all should go well.

IF you have made significant changes to the Database then you best Uninstall the existing Component and then install your new Component.

That being said, even though you will loose your data, in early stage install testing I always Uninstall (for that clean fresh taste!) and then Install.

If you need to keep your data safe and sound please use phpmyadmin or similar and perform an SQL Dump of your database with the data.

Hope that helps,

Regards,

Edward.

In V2.0, you will also be able to pack your dataset when download ;-)
Coding is now a piece of cake

I found "cook" two days ago. Played around with it for a day and then within a day got rid of two legacy applications in IBM Lotus Domino Notes and replaced them with "cook". It was really easy. A piece of cake. Actually it was even easier than cooking. Cooking involves more work than developing with "cook". What can I say about "cook"? Great application great price for what it delivers great forum with a lot of information and fast responses active and friendly community fast forward moving development cycle So what should I say "Monsieur Le Cook"? Keep the good work going it will lead to success. Having become a paying member in the words of Edith Piaf may I say ..... non rien de rien ... je ne regrette rien. Vive La France.
