What is com_usersck, and where can I get it? 05 Nov 2012 17:17 #5006

I noticed a wonderful little component on the sandbox admin page, and would very much like more information about it. I'm still getting my mind wrapped around J2.5 ACL. and it looks like it would be a god-send to have installed.!

Do you mean the component that allows dynamic masking of users and their permission sets that is used to check access to different component views and layouts?

If so, +1

@admin - can we get a copy of this from anywhere?

Happy to pay for it!!!

Thought that's the one you meant - yep, its pretty awesome... I was looking on the JED for something similar to debug ACLs and although there are a couple, they all involve logging in and out.

That just seems pointless as I could just create a test user for each level/group and do that myself... They all seem to be more aimed at admins who want to sign in to do something as a real user as opposed to a developer tool.

Yep, it is the virtualizer.

But, It cannot be shared because it is a hack on the sandbox.

Every time I uppgrade the sandbox version, I must hack and reapply the patches.

Can I just ask about the logic?

I just wonder, is the component just setting a flag in the session like mask = true when a pseudo user is selected that somehow ignores the logged in user's real ACL permissions and then reset's them back upon switching back to the pseudo admin?

It's ingenious!!!

It uses the session, and hack the user class to return others ACL coming from a predefined table. Means that the Virtualization is everywhere.

Another hack is to limit the admin back-end ACL's that you do not have access to limited componants and config.

That's it.

You should definitely realease it when you get a few hours spare! There is nothing as easy and perfect for cloaking users as this - a dev MUST!

Thanks,

Yes, but Joomla is not pluggable at this point (user class)

This is what you call a component builder. I was able to master using this in a very short time and the resulting component works like a charm. Not just a basic component builder but a fully working component builder with forms fields tables all ready to go. You can make the list and item views to display in the front and back end. Also there is a great forum just starting to evolve and I'm sure this will grow very rapidly when you all realise how good this tool is.
