Sef-alias and SEO friendly URL 26 Nov 2012 08:30 #5639

Hi there,

Is there a way to get SEO friendly URL's.

My items now show up as www.exapmle.com/?Itemid=138, but is it possible to get it like this: www.exapmle.com/my-category/my-item and also for the breadcrumbs?

My version of Joomla is 2.5.8 and i'm using V2.0 beta to build the component.

Hope to here from you soon,

Kind regards,
Mario

You "get" SEO-friendly URLs by linking to the format you want in the href="" part of the links on the pages of your site, and then rewriting the request after that link is clicked.

Does the rest of your site already use those types of URLs, and if so, which extension have you installed (if any) to enable that

Hi g1smd,

Thanx for the reply,

What I ment was using the title alias instead of the items ID for the URL.

The rest of my site is using the normal URL rewriting from the SEO settings in Global configuration, and have set "RewriteEngine On" in the htaccess file.

You need to look into the router.php of your component. All routing is handled there.

Also, these links may help:

I found "cook" two days ago. Played around with it for a day and then within a day got rid of two legacy applications in IBM Lotus Domino Notes and replaced them with "cook". It was really easy. A piece of cake. Actually it was even easier than cooking. Cooking involves more work than developing with "cook". What can I say about "cook"? Great application great price for what it delivers great forum with a lot of information and fast responses active and friendly community fast forward moving development cycle So what should I say "Monsieur Le Cook"? Keep the good work going it will lead to success. Having become a paying member in the words of Edith Piaf may I say ..... non rien de rien ... je ne regrette rien. Vive La France.
