"Comments" property for Layouts 24 Nov 2012 14:47 #5634

My project is particular large, so this may not be as "important" to a typical user, but as I create various layouts for various situations, I'm finding that I've forgotten details when I come back to them later.

Would it be possible to do one or all of these:
  1. Within the Title, Alias, Entry point configuration, have another freeform text field that the developer (me) could record notes or comments about the layout. Hopefully these could be included as comments in the generated code.
  2. In the Form and Fly brick properties, add an additional field titled "Developer comment" that would, again, be simple text that is stored with the view, and included in the generated code for later reference or reminder.
  3. For the Form and Fly bricks, have a draggable item to be used as "Custom HTML". The intent would be to be able to drag it to the Form/Fly, and be able to type text into it that is included in the generated code within a DIV or some container. An example might be intro text to the end user such as "Instructions for using this page properly", or development notes and reminders that could be later removed from the project altogether,

+1 from me for Comments box.

It helps if you have lots of table and forms, plus could add some tips about customizations after building.

Like the custom HTML idea too.

I know this isn't exactly the same thing because you can't do it in the builder however, once your in localhost, in your layout, either add or edit the message (from memory but check in cook JDom class to be sure) property in the todo JDom call. Then you can have an overridden message in every layout.

Hope it helps,

There are two thing here.

One can be comments and dev tools.
Secondly, can be also free translatable text areas to customize the pages.

Both are on the roadmap, the second one in priority.
Coding is now a piece of cake

Time to create page: 0.060 seconds

Let me first state that this is an amazing and fascinating product exactly what I was looking for. In just a few hours (listening to the very well made and clearly understandable videos learning doing) I completed and installed my first component. I am now in the second refining phase. I will make a recommenation in JED. Thanks for the effort in creating such a great product. Incidentally some of the best Joomla extension I use are of French origin !
