What I would like to be able to do is to be able to have a form with a field, then when a code number is typed in, it brings up a fly for that item. Is this possible, could I use the reuse filter for this?

thanks

Do you mean a modal popup to choose an item (for a foreign value) ?

Can you be more precise please ?

Are talking about the 'Reuse' properties in the task buttons ?
Coding is now a piece of cake

Not modal, although that would be sort of nice.

But really I just meant they type a code number into a form field, then click on the apply button in the toolbar. This then links to a fly of the item for that code. I was thinking may be able to use the toolbar button properties - Reuse property.

I have created an example layout, Plant Item Test.

It's really just trying to find a way to do a search within what already exists

This is what you call a component builder. I was able to master using this in a very short time and the resulting component works like a charm. Not just a basic component builder but a fully working component builder with forms fields tables all ready to go. You can make the list and item views to display in the front and back end. Also there is a great forum just starting to evolve and I'm sure this will grow very rapidly when you all realise how good this tool is.
