Summary of experience with J-Cook 28 Sep 2012 14:36 #4130

I decided to write my experience with J-Cook after my first project is almost finished.

When I got project I was searching for mvc generator on joomla.org and find J-Cook.
After the first visit to the j-cook.pro, services looked very promising acording to my project.
I decided to pay a little fee and try this.

First steps was to learn how J-Cook work and I spend around 3h to set up small working test component.
Then I decided to start with my project. For first not even beta version I spend around 2h, but every time I wisited J-Cook bulder interface I found some new functionality (they was there before, but I did not know what they do).

With a bit of help from admin and other active users on j-cook forum and after spending around 30h in total (which is not much for the first project) I am proud that we have launched the website www.pozejdon-turizem.com which is turist agency (sorry only in local language).

Now I am using J-Cook for 3 projects and I believe I will spent at least half the time building new components and I will definitely use the J-Cook service in the feature.

I must say J-Cook is not painless solution but I believe that it will eventually become.

What bothers me the most:
- Almost no tehnical documentation
- Some bugs which I are sooner or later eliminated (I will not write here wich one, it is not the right section)
- Some solutions like file uploads and MIME types
...

In the end I have to thank admin, who regularly monitored forum and help us with solutions or the correction of J-Cook errors in less then 1 day!

Cheers! :silly:

I still don't believe he can really be human to do all this ! From all of the forums that I've ever participated in this is certainly the one that most encapsulates the feeling of being truly open source where everyone's opinions and contributions can and will shape the development of the service! It's truly awesome! Hope you enjoy cooking and look forward to reading and contributing to any of the editorial work that you proposed too!! Thanks
