Foreign Key ordering not functioning 27 Mar 2014 13:54 #12364

I'm attempting to order items in Table 1 based on a foreign key in Table 2, which is a field selected in the items in Table 1.

The items appear to move around fine, and the database is being updated with new ordering, but refreshing the page in the backend is reordering the items again without the user moving them around. I'm not sure, but it seems like it's automatically reordering the database on page refresh based on some other sort of sorting, but I'm not sure why.

Any ideas if this is a bug? I'm fairly sure this is set up correctly in my project.

Did you setted this FK as group in the ordering wizard ?

Because this could be your problem.
When you define a group, it separate the items in differents ordering groups.

Are the items correctly ordered within the same FK value ?
Can you provide the PTL ? (Project Table Layout), so I can check manually ...
Coding is now a piece of cake

I found "cook" two days ago. Played around with it for a day and then within a day got rid of two legacy applications in IBM Lotus Domino Notes and replaced them with "cook". It was really easy. A piece of cake. Actually it was even easier than cooking. Cooking involves more work than developing with "cook". What can I say about "cook"? Great application great price for what it delivers great forum with a lot of information and fast responses active and friendly community fast forward moving development cycle So what should I say "Monsieur Le Cook"? Keep the good work going it will lead to success. Having become a paying member in the words of Edith Piaf may I say ..... non rien de rien ... je ne regrette rien. Vive La France.
