[CLOSED] Search only working in backend ....help 19 May 2012 09:51 #2379

Hi, Has anyone got any suggestions as to how I can get 'search' working on my component?

When I look in the backend (administration) I can search in the 'collection' on my component and it works correctly :)
When I look in the frontend at the 'collection' the search does NOT work. :(

I'm sure it is something to do with the server that the site is on but would very much appreciate if someone could point me in the right direction and make a suggestion?

kind regards,
Terry.

Please check your filters on frontend collection layout.

Hi pa4rm, thanks for your reply. My problem is on the Cook in testing the search works fine, on my MAMP setup locally on my machine, the search works fine.

The problem is when I install the component on my production server .... that's when it's not working correctly.
This tells me it must be something to do with the production server but I'm at a loss as to what it can be.

If anyone can think of anything it could be I'd be very grateful.
thanks,
Terry.

It is indeed very strange. May I assume you use same Joomla version and template on your test machine and production server? Please check your PHP and apache versions on your production server and check if all necessary modules and PHP options are supported.

I'm using the same version of Joomla and template with the test machine and prod server but I'll check out the PHP and apache versions as I haven't done this yet, thanks for your reply. T.

Do you still have the issue ?

Actually, does the query returning items ?

IF NOT :
It should be a problem on your SQL server with the function 'LIKE'

To be sure of that, put your Joomla in debug mode and try to find the query relative to the items loading. It should include the search filter inside.

Try this query in your phpMyAdmin and see the issue.

EDIT :
It is an old topic, so if anybody has this problem, please feed here.
If not, I close it.

I found "cook" two days ago. Played around with it for a day and then within a day got rid of two legacy applications in IBM Lotus Domino Notes and replaced them with "cook". It was really easy. A piece of cake. Actually it was even easier than cooking. Cooking involves more work than developing with "cook". What can I say about "cook"? Great application great price for what it delivers great forum with a lot of information and fast responses active and friendly community fast forward moving development cycle So what should I say "Monsieur Le Cook"? Keep the good work going it will lead to success. Having become a paying member in the words of Edith Piaf may I say ..... non rien de rien ... je ne regrette rien. Vive La France.
