[CLOSED] Cook freeze (12/08/17 6PM) 17 Aug 2012 14:16 #3179

I was trashing some items when cook totally freeze a 6 PM.
I suspect some admin task (platform upgrade in the background or something similar CPU vore ;-) ) that put the server on knees...
Am I right ?
Firefox browser is not responding anymore...

It is possible that the server runs a backup, but the server is good and the backup not very heavy, so I would not think a server problem. (Even I some reboots can happen).
If the server is gone, the builder do not insist with ajax (timeout). Every 10 seconds, a system ajax 'ping' is done to check the server and to exchange with the session.

I think a javascript bug in the builder.
I often can see when I leave my Builder window opened for few days, then Firefox lacks and blocks with an anormal use of CPU and memory.

This is a testimonial that something is not coded very good in the JS, but since the beginning of the project, I can't find it. So it stays as it is for the moment.

If somebody is experienced to help me understanding the use of the memory and CPU of the browser I am very interrested to make the service evolving.

What you should know, it is nice to restart the builder every 5-8 hours (for my experience), wich is still not too bad.

I experienced the same with some music streaming websites as well (Grouveshark for example), and I was asking myself is heavy applications are supported well in Firefox.
Coding is now a piece of cake

I agree that Firefox is nice to work but it's not free of bug especially on large sessions...
got some concerns about memory / cache management.
Do you plan to port Cook on Chromium someday ?
- that is a strong browser available in Linux - otherwise there are plenty of another browsers (Konqueror, midori ,arora etc) ... but prefer not to try Cook with.

Awards for the best Joomla app. This product is gonna win an award for this amazing job. Cook Self Service is the the best application from all over the Joomla universe ! It brings Joomla to a professional level really advanced for developers. It is a real fun to develop with it. The ACL part and security checks implementation are just... so much hours saved. I can now concentrate myself more on the design part and the creative works. Thank you so much. Guys I offer you all my congratulation ! Keep up the works because Joomla is needing it to increase the quality of extensions availables on the JED. I also learned a lot because I can see how to code at the proper place and I found all my answers reading the forum.
