TOPIC:

New record does not save to correct user 28 Oct 2012 20:04 #4805

I am seeing a problem with the Author Wizard

My table:

- Create a table. Add Joomla user as a field.
- Add Author Wizard.
- Drag and drop Joomla user from table to wizard.
- Add some other fields such as text, etc.

My page:

- Item view
- Add fields into form section to include Joomla user.

Sandbox:
- Click New+
- Fill out form, select Joomla user (Andrew, Nina, etc.), save.
- Collection view: item is owned by Admin.
- Edit record, change to user (Andrew, Nina, etc.), save.
- Collection view: now owned by Joomla user.

So, am I creating the table wrong or using the wizard incorrectly maybe?

OK, just had a thought on this...

Instead of adding a joomla user field then adding the author field, try just adding the author wizard then click the green + button to auto create the j-user field... I don't know if this will make a difference as such but, I do know that some of the wizard fields (or rather, joomla) is quite particular about the naming of the fields.

Remove your current author field first (and all instances of it in forms/layouts etc) then re-add as above.

Regen the files and retry in sandbox... Hopefully this will fix it - fingers crossed!

Same result. I picked Jade as the user and saved. When I look at collection view Admin owns the record.

If I edit the record and pick Jade and save, collection view now shows Jade as the owner.

I will try building a new and very basic table to test some more.

When you say you pick jade as the user, jade is a user you have in your local (or remote) dev environment right?

Double check in your dev environment using another user to see if same results...

If so, this is definitely a question for @admin I'm afraid.

Installed on my dev server. Same result. Item owned by Admin.

It looks like that when the record is being created the "Created By" is being overwritten by Joomla and it is using the user that is creating it.

Test

- Run sandbox.
- Switch to Laura.
- Create record. Assign to Andrew. Save.
- Collection view: item owned by Laura.
- Edit, change to Andrew.
- Collection view: owned by Andrew.

So, yeah. It is not saving the "Created By" on a new record. It is listed "Created By" as the person actually creating it. You can change that, but you have to save the record and edit it to change it.

OK, sorry you're experiencing that!

I'm gonna move this to New Tickets for @admin to pickup...

Hope you get it resolved!

Best wishes,

- Switch to Laura.
- Create record. Assign to Andrew. Save.

Do not do that.

If you are using auhtoring, everything is automatic.
Changing author, or virtual user DURING the form is not a good idea.
Coding is now a piece of cake
