extra MIME types not working for file uploader 08 Nov 2012 10:51 #5117

Hi there, I have been experimenting with the file uploader in j-cook and as suggested per a previous post i tried adding some extra MIME types to the current list to enable the upload of videos and sound files through various diffrent formats. however the extra ones I have added do not work and simply say that the MIME type is not allowed when it is. As far as I can tell I have added the extra MIME types correctly but of course I could have made a mistake but with no refrence material I am unable to tell what i have done wrong. could someone please look into this for me and let me know if a) I was doing something wrong? b) If so what is the correct way to add extra MIME types. please help this is rather important that im able to do this. Thanks in advance.

Is this to do with the allowed mime types you've set globally in joomla? Try checking your settings for allowed file types in joomla/media manager.

Hope it helps,

Can you see them in the controller, in postSaveHook() ?

@audibeid :

This is nothing to do with the allowed mimes of Joomla com_media.
I prefered to separate the components as much as possible.

Please, do not have to be sorry. You put yourself too down.
Everybody is at school, even me.
If the boarders are thinking you are moderator and should have the answer of everything, they are wrong. Not you.

Also, what you was proposing makes absolutly sense ! It is a good reflex when debugging, because when you do not know if a component is extrating com_media configuration, the best way is to check it.

Very good point by the way.

... And it can be a good option to add. Very nice feature.

I do like such functionalities. Not thoses wich are switching only the views or the custom of controls.
