Hi to everybody,

let me first state that this is an amazing and fascinating product, exactly what I was looking for. In just a few hours (listening to the very well made and clearly understandable videos, learning, doing) I completed and installed my first component. I am now in the second refining phase. I will make a recommenation in JED.

Unfortunately I think that I found a small bug. As I have entered some test data in the database table and afterwards hat to correct a typo in the table name, the sql that saves the user data was not modified. Therefore upon restoring the user data Cook produced an error. There was no problem to download and install the component, but the test data in the sandbox are no longer available.

Thanks for the effort in creating such a great product. Incidentally some of the best Joomla extension I use are of French origin!

Hi giori
Thanks for your review, and welcome to the community.

Restoring the datasets is a quite complicated process for Cook.
Because it has been designed to retreive your datas even if you change the names of your tables or your fields.
If you rename a field, it restore it in the new field name.
If you delete a field, and recreate it with the same name, it will replace it.

In fact, you are true, I can see in my monitors that lot of users are dealing with such issue, even if it is not yet posted on Forum.

If the restoring process don't finish, you cannot even open the sandbox link.
Your component is installed, but not restored.

For the moment, we try to fix this, follow theses instructions :

Conserve the links of the sandboxes in your favorites, in order to be be able to enter.
You will see your component installed ... and empty.
Recreate one record (at least)
Regenerate your component, and it should pass.

Wy recreating one record ?
Because when Cook backup your component, if it is empty, it will not backup anything and will keep the last backup (For security reasons if an issue occurs between the backup and the restoring processes)

So...
You will unfortunatly lost your current datasets. This is the big deal until the bug fixed.

For the future, try to don't change the aliases of your tables and of your fields too much.
If you want to change an alias, do ONLY ONE modification at a time and always run in sandbox between two aliases modifications.

Hope you understand what I mean. I can precise better if you want.
Coding is now a piece of cake

Thank you,

that worked, I could save the sandbox admin link to favorites, recreate the record and regenerate the component.

I found "cook" two days ago. Played around with it for a day and then within a day got rid of two legacy applications in IBM Lotus Domino Notes and replaced them with "cook". It was really easy. A piece of cake. Actually it was even easier than cooking. Cooking involves more work than developing with "cook". What can I say about "cook"? Great application great price for what it delivers great forum with a lot of information and fast responses active and friendly community fast forward moving development cycle So what should I say "Monsieur Le Cook"? Keep the good work going it will lead to success. Having become a paying member in the words of Edith Piaf may I say ..... non rien de rien ... je ne regrette rien. Vive La France.
