Hi Cook & Co,

I am trying to create a component that the Admin can create records in the Joomla! back-end, so that a certain 'user group' can see the records and can edit/alter them with shipping updates information.

At the moment I can not edit anything in the front-end, not even as a 'Super User'.

I have placed the edit button on the front-end page, I have tried the Access Level wizard but with no success.

Is it even possible to see records that are created by a different 'user', and can they only be edited by that 'user'?

I have Joomla 3.7.4.

Any information would help, as I am finding this very frustrating.

Cheers,
Will

Do you have a form brick on your frontend view or only a fly?
Without a Form brick, editing will not work

As said Romkabouter, try to instance a FORM instead of the FLY (per default in front-end)
Otherwise, tell me your Project's name + Table + Layout (P T L), and I will have a closer look

Oh my Glob!

Of course, you are right 'Form' not 'Fly' for data entry, how embarrassment

What a rookie mistake, thanks for taking it easy on me

It has been a while since I have used the builder, sorry for the inconvenience team.

No problem, it is my fault because I should provide you the complete documentation.
It is on the way, but... soooo long

For starters it's just so easy to design an app in a way that I'm used to i.e. database first then views followed by customization. The fork system is pure brilliance from a developer standpoint as I can override things and still add and update my projects with minimal effort! Truly amazing to be able to build components in Joomla using incremental refinement without having to do everything by hand. Thanks for the great tool! I am so much more productive now than ever and I can't imagine building components any other way!!!!
