-change state of record to trashed by button on colectin
-chage filter on colection to "trashed"
-edit record
-press published to yes
-save&close
-change filter on colection tu "published"
-got stuck

Can you tell me which version of joomla you use?
I feel that your component is not up to date with the version of joomla.
Have you created your component recently?

At the top of your component files checked with which version of Jcook you created your component.
The current version of Jcook is 3.1.9
It works perfectly with version 3.8 & 3.9 of Joomla.
