Do you mean an ID field in tables and layouts?

If so, the id field is auto-created on all tables. If you need it in a layout (grid or fly), you can add it to the layout by dragging the table element itself to your layout, just as you do with a field.

Thank you for your reply, and i asked about, how to set the id field as auto generated in all layouts?
i.e various id number(1,2,3,....) for various customers(a,b,c,....)

Sorry @vivek,

I don't quite understand what you mean...

The id field is auto created for every table you create. The id field of every record you create in a table will auto-increment and be set to be the table's primary key.

Does that answer your question?

You can just drag the table node to whatever layout you want, a fly, grid or form and it will display the ID of the record(s) in question.

For starters it's just so easy to design an app in a way that I'm used to i.e. database first then views followed by customization. The fork system is pure brilliance from a developer standpoint as I can override things and still add and update my projects with minimal effort! Truly amazing to be able to build components in Joomla using incremental refinement without having to do everything by hand. Thanks for the great tool! I am so much more productive now than ever and I can't imagine building components any other way!!!!
