I'm starting to get familliar with JDOM and I'm wondering if it's a library used mostly only by j-cook. If I modify it, it won't affect other extensions? Could it be a good idea to rename it to something unique for my components needs?
I tried to find some informations about it online but it seem to be only used here, is it something the j-cook developper create?
I just want to have a clearer idea about what's JDOM.

It is open source here : github.com/Cook-Self-Service/JDom All contributions are welcome. Maybe one day in natives files of Joomla CMS.. I hope so... For the moment, it is still under developpement and test, but it works like a charm. Coding is now a piece of cake

So I guess I should simply adapt it to my templating needs and don't bother proting it to my own plugin. It will be a good thing to refine my Git forking and branching knowledge. At first I didn't like the JDOM and was creating my own link manually but once you figure how it work it seem to be quite powerful. Good work there

Mud-H Topic Author Offline New Member Posts: 13 Thank you received: 0	Another JDOM related questions. Is it possible to not include JDOM in components so it won't overides the changes. I'm using 2 components now and I want them to share the same JDOM. For now I simply backup latest JDOM and overide after installation. It might be a good idea to add a "Don't include" options in JDOM components parameters

Tomaselli Offline Elite Member Posts: 293 Thank you received: 87	if you use the JDOM library as joomla system plugin, you can use ONE library per joomla installation, so you can share the same library between more components. To do that, in the jcook builder interface, there is an option in the project configuration to use JDOM as plugin instead to delivery it within the component folder. Mud-H Topic Author Offline New Member Posts: 13 Thank you received: 0	Well it's the options I use but each time I install a component creation it override the JDOM and my changes are gone, right? Maybe I'm wrong but I'm pretty sure it's what happened. Now I always backup JDOM files when installing new component then paste backed up files over.

Tomaselli Offline Elite Member Posts: 293 Thank you received: 87	there is an option in the plugin configuration to avoid to upgrade JDOM, there are just 3 conditions: 1) upgrade always 2) ONLY if newer 3) NEVER so if you want keep your modified version of JDOM, just set the plugin it to "NEVER", and you should be fine. You could create an installation only for JDOM? It is easier to download the latest version and install offline. Still use the FTP server 5.3.3 and 3.2.4 joomla thanks

I found "cook" two days ago. Played around with it for a day and then within a day got rid of two legacy applications in IBM Lotus Domino Notes and replaced them with "cook". It was really easy. A piece of cake. Actually it was even easier than cooking. Cooking involves more work than developing with "cook". What can I say about "cook"? Great application great price for what it delivers great forum with a lot of information and fast responses active and friendly community fast forward moving development cycle So what should I say "Monsieur Le Cook"? Keep the good work going it will lead to success. Having become a paying member in the words of Edith Piaf may I say ..... non rien de rien ... je ne regrette rien. Vive La France.
